We at Pure Mitti are big fans of Coconut Oil and use it as the base ingredient in many of our products. You may wonder "what are the uses of Coconut Oil?" Everyday Coconut Oil just has so many benefits that any list we make could go on forever! For today, we've decided to feature our top ten🌴
1. Natural Soaps
Soaps made from oils are often the best kind not only because they are comprised of a natural base but also because of the moisturizing properties they inherently hold.
Coconut Oil based soaps are especially good for this because the oil works in combination with a lye (think Sodium Hydroxide or a similar blend) to form a 100% coconut oil end product.

On top of that, if you choose to add a moisturizing boost of around 20-30 percent Coconut Oil, you will get the ideal moisturizing content for a cleanser. Coconut Oil for the bath is the way to go!
2. Cooking Oil/Butter Replacement
Often times even when trying to cook and eat healthy, there are some ingredients we just cannot avoid. One of those ingredients tends to be cooking oil or butter which are either not the healthiest option or don't fit the dietary restrictions associated with being Vegan for example.
Worry no more, Coconut Oil is here. Not only is it a tasty addition to any dish you are cooking (Coconut Oil is very flavorful and enhances the combination of spices used in any given dish) but a great way to avoid butter or unhealthy cooking oils (like Canola). In baking, people often substitute Coconut Oil in at a 1:1 ratio but it all depends on your preference. Personally, the more Coconut Oil the better!
3. Makeup Remover
Makeup and the makeup removers we tend to use can often be harsh on the most sensitive part of our skin - our face! Without proper care, our skin can easily lose the healthy appearance it is supposed to carry.
Rather than turning to chemical filled makeup removers that strip your skin of it's natural oils, try using Coconut Oil as a facial scrub and makeup remover. Follow the steps below to start!
All you have to do is scoop a little bit onto your fingers and rub the oil onto your face in a circular motion, making sure to get the areas where you've applied makeup.
Massage into your skin, rinse with water, and voila - clean and glowing skin!
4. Leave in Conditioner
This tradition originates in the South Asian country of India but can & should be used by everyone considering how effective it is!
Coconut Oil can be used as a hair oil and leave in conditioner hair treatment to offer moisture not only to the strands of your hair but to your scalp to stimulate growth in your follicles. It also helps to repair heat damage.
For best results, massage into hair approximately 1-2 hours before washing your hair and let it soak in. Then wash thoroughly and notice how luscious and shiny your hair is. Over several months you will even notice hair growth.

Last but not least is the most practical and helpful use of Coconut Oil when you're in a scrape (literally!) This natural salve can be used on its own or even with a touch of honey to help heal small wounds. It's a great ingredient to keep in the pantry or first aid kit for some natural help! You can even use it as a general moisturizer for dry skin - try to rub coconut oil on stomach, arms, legs, and hands - any dry spot!
